Drogheda announce new shirt sponsors

Drogheda United have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with Scotch Hall Shopping Centre that will see the team wear the company logo for the next two years.

The club have not given details of the deal but Extratime.ie has learned that there is a five-figure sum involved as well as a number of additional benefits.

The shopping centre will take over as shirt sponsor from Hunky Dorys who will remain as stadium sponsors.

Club Chairman Jim Agnew believes the deal is further evidence of the upward progression of the Boyneside club.

“We couldn’t be happier to be associated with Scotch Hall Shopping Centre for the next two years at least. It is a very positive thing for the town as well as being a huge vote of confidence in the club and in Mick Cooke, Robbie Horgan and the team. Scotch Hall Shopping Centre is a showcase for retail in the town and Drogheda United is a showcase for Irish soccer - it’s a perfect fit.”

Drogheda United have already, through their Claret and Blue initiative which sees their members receive discounts in a variety of local businesses, made attempts to engage with the local business community and the association with Scotch Hall is another step to the clubs ultimate aim in becoming self-sustainable.

Scotch Hall Centre Manager, Mark Morgan, said the arrangement was a long term commitment and was glad to avail of the country wide advertising the deal would bring.

“Drogheda United is the town’s best known brand which flies the flag for the town and region on the national stage week in week out. Scotch Hall Shopping Centre is very proud to embark on a long-term relationship with the club and we see this sponsorship agreement as bringing value to both Scotch Hall and Drogheda United."
