Sligo Rovers History

Sligo Rovers FC were formed in 1928 after an amalgamation of two teams, Sligo Town and Sligo Blues. They were elected to the league in 1934, and won the first of their three League Titles in 1937. Sligo's second title did not come for another forty years with the league flag finally being raised again in 1977. Their most recent League win was in 2012 under the management of Ian Baraclough. The club also have five FAI Cup wins to their name - 1982/83, 1993/94, 2010, 2011 and 2013 along with two League Cup wins, in 1998 and 2010.

Sligo, also known as The Bit O' Red, play their home games at The Showgrounds, which has been the club's home since their foundation.
