Report: Wexford Youths 2 - 0 Kerry League

Kerry League’s participation in this year’s League Cup came to an end in Wexford on Monday evening, going down two nil to Wexford Youths. A double from Conor Sinnott was enough to book a place in the next round for Mick Wallace’s men.

Despite the score line, it was Kerry League who dominated the first half, but their lack of penetration up front failed to turn large sways of possession into goals.

On forty minutes, a Conor Sinnott cross, after a one-two with Darren Browne, was harshly deemed to have been handled by Shane Brosnan in the box. Wexford’s resulting penalty kick was dispatched successfully by Sinnott into David Hennessy’s bottom left corner.

In the 73rd minute, Conor Sinnott was fouled on the edge of the area by David Hayes. Sinnott stepped up and curled the ball into the top right hand corner, however questions will be asked of the Kerry wall positioning.

Kerry should have pulled a goal back through substitute Anthony Glasheen but for an excellent save by Doyle who managed to push the ball just over for a corner. Further chances for James Suqrue and Maurice O'Reilly failed to get a Kerry goal.

Wexford Youth next league game is against Waterford United this Friday in the Regional Sports Ground at 19:45.
