Fleetwood Town have secured the loan of 24-year-old midfielder Gavin Kilkenny from AFC Bournemouth.

Kilkenny joins Charlie Adam's side at Highbury Stadium, with the team currently positioned at 24th in Sky Bet League One.

Kilkenny, who has made 25 appearances for Bournemouth, played his first game of the 2023-2024 season in their 5-0 FA Cup victory over Fleetwood Town.

His move adds to Fleetwood Town's recent Irish signings, including forward Tommy Lonergan from St Patrick’s Athletic and Bosun Lawal on loan from Celtic.

Kilkenny joins a contingent of Irish players at Fleetwood, including Ryan Graydon, Promise Omochere, Cian Hayes, David Harrington, and Ronan Coughlan.

Raised in Beaumont, Dublin, Kilkenny started his football career at St Kevin's Boys

At 16, he left home to join AFC Bournemouth, where he excelled in the youth ranks before signing his first professional contract in April 2018.

Kilkenny was quickly promoted to the first team.

Kilkenny's loan spells include a season at Stoke City in 2022-2023 and a stint with Charlton Athletic for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.

Internationally, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels, including the U18 and U21 squads.
