Republic of Ireland defender Megan Campbell has made the switch from Women's Super League side Everton to English Championship club London City Lionesses.

She joins a host of Girls in Green at the club, with goalkeeper Grace Moloney and midfielders Ruesha Littlejohn and Niamh Farrelly at the club who play out of Dartford.

“Joining London City is a new challenge, with new surroundings and new teammates, but I'm looking forward to what's ahead,” said 30-year-old Campbell when speaking to her new club’s website.

“I'm quite a physical defender and I like to be on the ball,” said Campbell who signed an 18 month contract with the club. “I like to be in possession and play on a winning team. Defensively, I'm vocal, and hard in the tackle.”

She brings plenty of experience to Princes Park having earned 47 caps for Ireland and has played with three major clubs in England - Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, and the Republic of Ireland.

Her new head coach Carolina Morace said: "It is very important for us to have someone in the team with Megan's specific skillset. I need to have a centre-back who is left-footed, so I'm excited to see what she can offer."

Her international teammate Abby Larkin has made a move to the same division, as she joins Crystal Palace from Glasgow City (see here).

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that fellow Ireland defender Louise Quinn dislocated her shoulder last week and is a doubt for the upcoming international friendlies in February.
