Grimsby Town is set to expand their squad with three new signings ahead of their clash with Notts County at Blundell Park.

Defender Doug Tharme, midfielder Harry Wood, and striker Justin Obikwu have been confirmed as Head Coach David Artell's first acquisitions of the transfer window.

Harry Wood, the 21-year-old midfielder from Hull City, was the first to sign earlier this week, arriving on loan until season's end.

Wood returns from a successful loan at Shelbourne in the League of Ireland Premier Division, where he made an impact with 15 appearances and two goals.

Artell praised Wood's potential, stating, "He can get forward, create goals and score goals... It’s exciting and hopefully he settles in well."

Justin Obikwu, a 19-year-old striker from Coventry City, joins Grimsby on a similar loan deal.

After a season with the Sky Blues U21s and participation in their pre-season tour, Artell highlighted his attributes: "Justin is young, energetic, quick, strong and he runs in behind... he provides real raw pace up the top end of the pitch."

The third signing, defender Doug Tharme, arrives from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee, committing to a deal until June 2026.

The 24-year-old has experience with Wrexham, Curzon Ashton, Connah’s Key Nomads, and a loan spell at Accrington Stanley.

Artell remarked on the need for strengthening the defense and Tharme's enthusiasm, "Doug is a big strong lad... We’re excited to get the deal done because it’s an area we needed to strengthen."
