Drogheda United has announced contract extensions for two players. Aaron McNally has put pen to paper to continue his tenure with the club, and Matthew O’Brien has also re-committed to his hometown team.

McNally, who made a mark last season with 23 appearances, expressed his contentment with the new contract, "I’m over the moon, it was a no brainer after I spoke to Kevin. I’m already looking forward to next season,” he said.

Matthew O’Brien shared a similar sentiment regarding his continued stay at Drogheda United.

“I’m delighted to be back next year and can’t wait to get going again. It’s a long off season, and I’m hoping I can build on the good end to last season," O’Brien stated.

Manager Kevin Doherty spoke highly of both players, noting McNally’s versatility and crucial contributions.

"Aaron’s signing is a fantastic addition for the upcoming season. He had a remarkable year last season, displaying exceptional versatility and performing admirably in various positions,” Doherty remarked.

Doherty also praised O’Brien’s development and his example to younger players.

“Matthew embodies the type of player we desire at the club - youthful, eager, and full of positive energy. He’s a local lad too which I’m really happy with, it really means something for him to play for Drogheda United," Doherty explained, highlighting the importance of local talent to the club’s ethos.
