Gillingham has officially signed Macauley Bonne, strengthening their forward options for the upcoming season.

Bonne, 27, was a free agent after his contract with Charlton Athletic expired this summer.

The striker began his professional career with Ipswich Town's academy and subsequently signed for Colchester United.

He debuted for Colchester in October 2013 in a match against Shrewsbury, and scored his maiden professional goal four days later against Peterborough United.

After loan spells at Woking and Lincoln City, Bonne made a move to Leyton Orient in 2017.

Here, he displayed a keen eye for goal, scoring 47 times in 91 appearances.

This run caught the attention of Championship side QPR, which secured his services in October 2020 for an undisclosed fee.

In the 2021/22 season, Bonne was loaned to Ipswich Town, where he netted 12 times in 46 appearances. He returned to Charlton Athletic in January and remained there until his contract concluded in the summer.
