The former Waterford front man joins Galway after a successful spell on the southeast coast.

The Algerian forward is a further boost to the Tribesmen promotion hopes as they sit top of the First Division.

The 23-year old left Waterford on Friday after his game time was limited under new boss Keith Long. He made 13 league appearances scoring four times this campaign, with three of them coming in the one game against Wexford on the first day of season.

Aouacharia may bring back some not-so-fond memories for Galway fans, as he scored one of the goals which saw United knocked out of the Play-Offs last season.

Speaking to the club media, the former Charlton forward stated, "I joined Galway because obviously, it's a great club.

“I came here during the season and the fans were great and there's a great bunch of lads. Hopefully, we win the league and get back into the Premier Division."

Manager John Caulfield revealed, “Yeah we're very happy to bring Wassim in, he has experience in our league, playing with Waterford last season and this season, he offers us something different up top from what we already have in the squad."

Galway are currently 13 points clear of Waterford at the top of the First Division as they are on course for a return to the Premier Division. Next up is a trip to Cork as they face Cobh Rambles on Friday night.

Aouacharia was on the extratime.com podcast earlier on in the year, see the tweet below to hear about his football career to date.
