Portsmouth has announced the signing of the midfielder Ben Stevenson from Forest Green.

The 26-year-old has inked a two-year contract with Pompey, which includes the option for an additional 12-month extension.

John Mousinho, the Blues' boss, expressed his delight at the new acquisition.

He said, “We’re bringing in a player who covers all the positions in the middle of the park. He’s a really good footballer and an excellent character as well, so we’re delighted to have him at Pompey."

"Ben will be looking to add a few more goals and assists to his game, but he’s got all the attributes we’re looking for. I think he complements the guys we already have in the building and has an important role to play off the pitch, as well as on it.”

Stevenson, who turned professional in 2015, began his football journey at Coventry.

He debuted in a Carabao Cup victory over Pompey the following year. The player has been part of significant footballing feats, playing the full 90 minutes when the Sky Blues triumphed over Oxford to clinch the EFL Trophy in 2017.

Following a brief spell with Wolves, Stevenson became a key player for Colchester, appearing nearly 100 times for the club.
