Bolton Wanderers have announced that Jón Daði Böðvarsson, the Icelandic striker, has signed a one-year contract extension, securing his position with the club until the summer of 2024.

During the 2022/23 season, Böðvarsson scored eight goals for Bolton Wanderers before an injury forced him to miss the second half of the campaign.

Böðvarsson joins midfielder Josh Sheehan, who recently extended his contract, as the Wanderers continue to strengthen their squad for the 2023/24 season.

The forward spoke about his decision to stay with the club, stating, "I'm really happy to have extended my stay here at the club. It's a club that I'm very proud to be a part of. My family and I feel like we're at home here, the fans and the people of the community are brilliant."

Having recovered from his injury, Böðvarsson is now focused on a productive pre-season to regain his fitness and make a significant impact on the Wanderers' side.

Reflecting on his injury, he admitted the challenges he faced during his time on the sidelines, but expressed gratitude for the support he received from the club's physios in his recovery.

Böðvarsson concluded by saying, "The fans at this club are special, they really are. They've welcomed me with open arms from day one and made not just me, but my family really feel at home. I always do my best to return the favor by doing my best on the pitch and winning games."
