Sligo Rovers have announced the re-signing of Amy Roddy ahead of the 2023 Women’s Premier Division campaign.

Roddy was a member of Rovers’ squad last season for their inaugural season in senior women’s football, the Bit O’Red finished in eighth place.

“I’m delighted to re-sign for Rovers for the 2023 season,” Roddy said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Last season was a massive learning curve for us but, we showed that we can compete at this level.

“Steve and the management team have created a brilliant environment for us so I’m delighted to be part of it again this year and can’t wait to get back”.

The defender began her career with her hometown club Ballina Town at underage level and she also represented Connacht and Mayo before joining Sligo ahead of the 2022 season.

“Amy has had a brilliant first season with us at the club here,” manager Steve Feeney said.

“She was a key part of some of our good performances which lead to us picking up some valuable points”.

Sligo Rovers begin their campaign on Saturday, 4 March when they host Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds.
