Dundalk have announced the signing of Wales under-21 international Joe Adams from English Premier League side Brentford.

Adams arrives at Oriel Park shortly after his former Brentford and current Wales under-21 teammate Nathan Shepperd with the goalkeeper confirmed by the club earlier this week.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to it,” he said, speaking to the club’s website.

“I’m at the stage of my career where I need to be playing first-team football, so it’s an opportunity I’m really looking to take.”

“I’ve known Nathan for the past three years and we also play with the Welsh under-21s.

“He’s a really close friend of mine and it’s great that he’s here at Dundalk. It will make it a lot easier for me to settle.”

The 20 year old began his career at Bury and made his first team debut for the club as a 17 year old in 2018 when the club were in League One.

He signed for Brentford in 2019 and scored five times in 33 games during his first season with the club’s B team.

The midfielder had a short loan spell with Grimsby Town during the 2020/21 season before returning to Brentford where he scored six times in 12 appearances for the B team.

The Lilywhites begin their Premier Division campaign against Derry City on Friday, 18 February.
