Ciaran Kelly returns to Bohemians after loan spell with Ballymena United

Danske Bank Premiership side Ballymena United have confirmed that defender Ciaran Kelly is to return to his parent club Bohemians.

Kelly enjoyed a recent loan stint at Ballymena – making twelve appearances for the club in the process.

Ballymena currently find themselves in 4th position in the Danske Bank Premiership – eight points off table toppers Linfield.

Their last game – with Kelly playing in – saw them clinch a one-nil win away to Larne, who were then unbeaten at home and top of the table.

The 22-year-old joined Bohs ahead of the 2020 season from St Patrick’s Athletic, but after struggling to make an imprint in Keith Long’s defence, he headed north to join United on loan.

However, he did make three appearances for Bohs in 2020 – with his last coming against Cabinteely in the FAI Cup on August 31st.

The defender made his name at Drogheda United in the 2018 First Division, scoring six league goals in 31 games for Tim Clancy’s side as they missed out on promotion at the expense of Finn Harps.

He then returned to St Pat's where he spent the 2019 season, making 25 appearances for the club in the top-flight.
