Yoyo Mahdy joins Shelbourne after leaving UCD

Recently relegated Shelbourne have unveiled the signing of forward Yoyo Mahdy from UCD this evening.

The 22-year-old confirmed his departure from UCD on Friday afternoon, and he has since signed for Shels ahead of the 2021 campaign.

While at UCD, Mahdy played 96 times for the Students with 36 goals to his name over a four-year spell.

“I’m buzzing to join,” Mahdy told Shels’ media team after joining ahead of the 2021 season.

“I was talking to Ian a few times and it’s great to get it done and am excited for the season ahead.

“Last season the division was really competitive and this year it will be tough,” he added.

He added: “Tolka is one of my favourite places to play and it has been packed so am looking forward to that now.”

Shels boss Ian Morris finished: “Yoyo gives us fantastic options at the top end of the pitch. He can play up top, wide or behind the front man.

“He’s exciting, can beat a player and scores goals. He is a player in demand, and I’m delighted he is a Shelbourne player.”
