Dundalk boss Filippo Giovagnoli bolsters his Dundalk squad as Latvian international Raivis Andris Jurkovskis signs

FAI Cup holders Dundalk have unveiled the signing of Latvian international Raivis Andris Jurkovskis.

The 24-year-old full-back is a 13-time Latvian international and joins the Lilywhites from FK Liepaja.

He joins the Oriel Park outfit after on a free transfer after his contract expired at the club.

“Raivis can play at full-back, on either side,” Filippo Giovagnoli told Dundalk’s media team after signing Jurkovskis.

“He is a really good player, strong, fast and physical. He is considered as one of the best players in Latvia and when we started to watch him, we had no doubt he was the player for us.”

The full-back comes in through the doors of Oriel Park following the news last night that Dane Massey left the club.

The Latvian comes into the Co. Louth side as a former under-19 and under-21 international for his nation.

He made his senior debut for Latvia against South Korea in 2018 – and his most recent one came in a 5-0 win away to Andorra at the same venue where Dundalk defeated Inter Club d’Escaldes in the 2020 Europa League qualifiers.
