Wexford re-sign Karl Fitzsimons for 2021

First Division Wexford have unveiled the re-signing of full-back Karl Fitzsimons ahead of the 2021 campaign.

The Slaneysiders provided Fitzsimons with his first taste of regular senior League of Ireland football after two previous spells at Longford Town and Dundalk.

He joined Dundalk in 2018 after a previous stint at Drogheda United in 2017, but he would then move to Longford ahead of the 2019 season.

However, his stint with Longford was a brief one as he left the club in the summer of that year, joining Athlone then for a short period.

He then joined Wexford ahead of the 2020 season – and he would end up being the club’s top scorer in a successful first year with the club.

“One of the best things about last was that even when results didn't go our way, the lads always fought til the end.  It was always 100% win, lose or draw,” Fitzsimons told Wexford’s media team.

“I only got to play 2 or 3 matches in front of a stadium with more than the restricted number of fans, and no matter what some might say they definitely make a difference.

“Next season, I hope collectively to finish the season with a lot more points on the board and as a person goal, to add more goals and assists to my name.  Personally I want to develop more as a senior player.”
