Cian Coleman makes Cork City return after three-year spell away from Turners Cross

Cork City boss Neale Fenn has confirmed the acquisition of St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Cian Coleman.

The midfielder is manager Neale Fenn’s first signing since taking over Cork City in August, with the 22-year-old returning to his hometown club after a three year absence.

Coleman captained Cork City’s under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League and made three senior appearances as a teenager before his departure in 2016.

Coleman went on to play for Cobh Ramblers, Limerick and St Patrick’s Athletic over the last three seasons before his return to The Rebels.

“We’re delighted to have Cian on board. He’s a young player that I’ve admired since my time at Longford, when he played against us for Limerick,” manager Neale Fenn said, speaking to the club’s website.

“I’m delighted that we managed to sign him. He’s going to bring energy in midfield, physicality and he’s got quality as well.

“I’m sure that the fans know him, he’s been here before as a youngster so it’s great for the club that we could get him back.”

Along with the signing announcement Cork City also confirmed the departure of Eoghan Stokes and Colm Horgan, as well as Karl Sheppard who was confirmed to be signing for newly promoted Shelbourne yesterday.
