Paul Cook has returned to Sligo Rovers after talks between him and Accrington Stanley broke down.

Accrington Stanley released a statement on their club website this afternoon stating that no managerial appointment was imminent, but question remained as to whether Cook would be welcomed back in to the Showgrounds.

However, a statement released by the back to back Cup winners on Friday evening stated that Cook will be returning to the fold.

The statement said that the club wished to that Accrington for their professionalism in their negotiations but also thanking the supporters for their patience over the past week.

It now seems finally that the club will be able to settle down to its disrupted pre-season schedule, and put any other unwanted distractions to bed as they set their sights on toppling champions Shamrock Rovers.

We would also like to thank our supporters for their patience this week regarding this issue and look forward to a return to focus on our pre-season preparations.
