Eoin Doyle's transfer from Sligo Rovers to Scottish Premier League side Hibernian has been confirmed this evening. Speculation had linked the 23-year-old striker with a move to the Edinburgh club since former Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon took over at the end of November.

Doyle has signed a contract that will keep him at Easter Road until the summer of 2013. The signing is Fenlon's first as Hibs boss, although he is expected to make several changes over the coming month.

Doyle is seen as a possible answer to Hibs' scoring troubles. His new club have not scored in the two games they have played since Fenlon was installed as manager, although they did find the net against Motherwell in a game that was eventually abandoned to be replayed.

Doyle was Sligo's top scorer last season and the pressure will be on him to show that form for Hibs immediately. It is likely that he will make his debut against Hearts in the Edinburgh derby in the New Year as he is not officially eligible to play until the January transfer window opens.

The Easter Road faithful will be hoping that their new signing can kick start their season. Their side have so far amassed only 14 points from 18 games and lie level on points with bottom club Dunfermline. Sligo are reportedly looking into the possibility of securing a compensation payment for the player's services but the Scottish club are of the opinion that they do not owe a training fee.
