Fenlon happy with Hibs run out

Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon says Monday night's friendly against Scottish Premier League outfit Hibernian was a great experience for his young players.

First-half goals from Martin Scott and Liam Miller were enough to ensure a Hibs victory, their first game in the middle of a four-week stretch without a competitive game.

Speaking to Extratime.ie Fenlon said: “It was great. It was good from a fitness point of view, Hibs had pretty much their first-team out so it was very competitive. It was also a great experience for the young lads and nearly all of them got a run out.”

The Gypsies lost the game 2-1 and despite the experience gained, the friendly may have come at cost for Fenlon's men as strikers Anto Flood and Christy Fagan both limped off the pitch with injuries, but Fenlon is hopeful they aren't serious.

“It's probably too early to tell but he (Flood) seems to be alright. We're hopeful he should be fine, but it's too soon to know. We'll have to look at it.”

Fagan left the game after scoring his side's goal from the penalty spot and boss Fenlon admits that the former Manchester United youth may now be a doubt for Friday's league encounter with Galway United.

“We have no immediate injury concerns for Friday except for Christy (Fagan) and obviously Glenn (Cronin) is still out and will be for awhile yet.”
