Having succeeded Rodney McAree as Glentoran gaffer back in June 2023, 43-year-old boss Warren Feeney's time at the Oval is now over after nine months in charge of the NIFL Premiership side.

Feeney, a 46 capped former Northern Ireland international had been manager of Linfield before he made the switch, but with a 3-0 defeat by Loughgall last weekend, on Friday it was announced that he had left the club by mutual consent after they had dropped down to fifth place in the table.

His appointment was certainly a surprising one, but Glens fans themselves acknowledge that their issues run far deeper than what face occupies the dug out, but following Feeney's departure - and whilst a full managerial search takes place - Declan Devine has been announced as their caretaker manager for the remainder of the campaign.

The 50 year old is a well known name in the football circuit, and having spent two seasons with the club back in his playing days (helping them to lift the Irish Cup back in 1996), he will be a familiar face for fans, and having been appointed in time for Saturday's clash with Dungannon Swifts, he would have been very happy with the reception he got, and the fact that he picked up his first three points in a 3-0 victory and you can check the latest football results on this page.

"I encouraged the players before the game to showcase their talent and thankfully they did that. There were a lot of good performances and it's a very positive start."

It had not been a great season for Devine really, he left Bohemians only last Sunday following their slow start to the League of Ireland campaign, so the 'vastly experienced coach and manager' would have been pleased to make such a swift return to the game, and pick up such a quick win. The victory does move them back into fourth place in the table, but they remain 24 points shy of Larne who occupy top spot, but he may undoubtedly consider himself one of the favourites for the full time job, particularly if he can get them on an unbeaten run, and really start chewing away at the points deficit they have to instil some greater optimism for next campaign.

As for now managerless Bohemians, with four points from their opening four games under Devine and being on the end of back to back straight defeats, interim manager Pat Fenlon was back in the dug out for the first time since 2011 at Dalymount Park. They welcomed unbeaten Derry City to home soil for Fenlon's first game, and following goals from Dayle Rooney and former Candystripes striker James Akintunde they ended that record to pick up all three points for themselves.

Fenlon would have been pleased with the reaction he received and will also be looking to build on it now, and plenty will be watching on to see what kind of improvements they may now make.
