After 48 hours, season ticket sales for Shamrock Rovers’ Women’s Premier Division side are 25% in the green when compared with the total amount sold in 2023, with 50% of revenue being streamlined directly to Women’s Aid.

The club has its finger on the pulse with a fresh and significant initiative, wherein the Hoops give the boot to domestic violence.

Exclusive Women’s Aid branding features in their 2024 season ticket design which includes the Women’s Aid logo and contact phone number, in an effort to help raise awareness of their dedicated helpline with fans and those in their circle.

A media event, attended by members of both the women's and men's first teams, along with management and their new club charity partner, was held at Tallaght Stadium last week.

Sarah Benson, the CEO of Women’s Aid - the national, feminist organisation which works to prevent and address the impact of domestic violence and abuse since 1974 - attended the event alongside Shamrock Rovers CEO John Martin.

“Women’s Aid are delighted to be joining Shamrock Rovers in this partnership and to develop how we can collaborate for the coming year,” said Benson.

“Women’s Aid hopes that it will help promote women’s strength and capabilities – including the talents of the women’s teams in the club – and raise awareness of warning signs of abuse and available supports to help prevent victimisation and assist those who do need help in our communities.

“We also want to encourage more men to become leaders and allies in the journey towards zero tolerance of violence against women.

"Women’s aid will be sharing our resources and engaging with the Club to encourage and support members of Shamrock Rovers FC to be part of that growing movement of women and men standing up in support of those who might be at risk of or suffering domestic abuse.”

On the decision of Rovers to partner with Women’s Aid, Hoops’ skipper Áine O’Gorman said: “I think football clubs and players and personalities can be role models and can portray positive messages and raise awareness, and ultimately protect women.”

In the month of March, Rovers will mark International Women’s Day with an ongoing awareness campaign on the Women’s Aid cause, along with an awareness event in April at Tallaght Stadium.

In a leading move, the club will also implement Staff and Player Awareness training, which will be ongoing for the remainder of the LOI season.

Supporters can purchase their season ticket to support the Hoops on the club website, while also contributing to a meaningful cause.
