Longford Town have snapped up the services of highly-rated defender Jamie Egan from Drogheda United.

The former Cabinteely youth was on the books of Bristol Rovers in the UK before moving to Weavers Park midway through last season.

But he has since opted to leave Drogheda in search of regular first-team football at Bishopsgate.

Egan, 20, made his competitive bow for De Town in their 1-0 Leinster Senior Cup win over local rivals Athlone Town on Tuesday night.
