Kerry have announced the resigning of young attacker Kennedy Amechi which will keep the Mallow native in Mounthawk Park until 2025.

The 19-year-old played his first season of men's League of Ireland football last year with Kerry and almost instantly became a fan favourite scoring three goals in the Kingdom's debut campaign.

“We are delighted to have Kennedy re-signed for the new season,” said head coach Conor McCarthy.

“He had an excellent first year with us and we’re delighted to have him back in for the season ahead, everybody can see his quality and we’re looking forward to seeing him back on pitch very soon,” said McCarthy.

The Mallow man also expressed his joy at resigning for the league newcomers in an interview with Kerryfc.com.

“It’s great to be back signed with, it’s a big season for myself and also for the team.

“I can’t wait for the season to get started next month and I’m really looking forward to seeing and playing in front of a packed Mounthawk Park again.”

Kerry’s league opener is away to Cork City in Turners Cross on February 16th
