Motherwell have finalised the loan signing of Adam Montgomery from Celtic for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old defender, who has already made 67 first-team appearances, spent the first half of this season on loan at Fleetwood Town.

Montgomery, who initially started his career as a forward, transitioned to defence where he has flourished.

He signed his first professional contract with Celtic in 2019 and made his first-team debut in May 2021.

Since then, he has made 20 appearances for Celtic and has experienced loan spells with other Premiership sides, including Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

His stint at St Johnstone saw Montgomery playing 33 games, scoring once, and providing four assists.

Motherwell's manager, Stuart Kettlewell, emphasised the importance of Montgomery's signing.

“With the low numbers we currently have available, it’s important we bring the right players to the club who we think can make an impact,” he stated.

Montgomery expressed his enthusiasm about joining Motherwell,

“I’m chuffed to be here,” he said.

“It’s been really good meeting all the boys so far and feel it’s a great environment to be playing football.”
