Hearts have reinforced their defence by signing Jamaican international Dexter Lembikisa on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old right-back, a product of Wolves' youth system, helped the U21s to promotion and made his first-team and Premier League debuts in the 2022/23 season.

Having gained experience on loan at Rotherham United with 27 appearances and one goal, Lembikisa has also emerged on the international stage, earning his first cap for Jamaica's senior team and participating in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Hearts' head coach Steven Naismith expressed his excitement about the signing.

"He’s an exciting full back... His progression over the past year has been massive," Naismith said.

Joe Savage, Sporting Director, highlighted the club's proactive recruitment.

"We identified early on the need to bring in a right-back... We’re absolutely delighted to be able to bring in his number one choice in Dexter," Savage said.

Lembikisa shared his enthusiasm for joining Hearts.

"Hearts are a massive club and they’re doing very well at the moment," he said.

Lembikisa is set for a potential debut in the Scottish Cup against The Spartans next weekend and is eager to make an immediate impact.

"I’m ready to go and play now... I’m definitely looking forward to that one," he concluded.
