Morecambe have welcomed 19-year-old midfielder Joe Adams on a season-long loan from Wigan Athletic.

Adams began his career at Eastleigh FC's Academy and later joined Sholing in the Southern League Division One.

His performances led to a call-up for the England Schoolboys U18s in December 2021. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Wigan Athletic in February.

Upon joining Wigan Athletic, Adams made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut.

He has since been a staple in Wigan's U21s team, earning recognition for his consistent play.

This led to his inclusion on the first-team bench for a Carabao Cup tie against Fleetwood Town.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new opportunity, Adams said, "I'm really looking forward to it, it just came about the last couple of days. I was told the loan was a possibility and when it got done, I was buzzing."

Reflecting on his previous loan experiences, Adams added, "I've been on a few loans which were four or five games each, they were good experiences but here, a proper loan until the end of the season, I'm looking forward to it."

Adams described his playing style and goals for his time with the Shrimps.

"I'd say my best position is a number 10; I'll run all game, make runs in behind and I like to get on the ball as well. I'll take people on and hopefully get some goals and assists," he shared.
