In December 2020, Shane re-signed with Waterford for the 2021 season, and he went on to become a regular member of the team through the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

His final game for the Blues was the Promotion Play Off Final against Cork City in November where in came on as a 96th minute substitute in extra time and helped Waterford to a 2-1 win.

The 24-year-old Griffin becomes the sixth signing so far for Manager Ian Ryan who is team building for the new season and he joins Kieran Cruise, Freddy Turley, Jimmy Corcoran, Christian Magerusan and another ex-Waterford player Killian Cantwell at the Carlisle Grounds.
