Carlisle United has confirmed the acquisition of defender Sean Grehan from Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Dublin-born centre back, who started his career with Bohemians, moved to Selhurst Park in 2022 after a successful trial.

Grehan quickly established himself at Crystal Palace, featuring prominently for the club's U21 side in Premier League 2, making 36 appearances in his debut season in England.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a spot on the Republic of Ireland's U19 national team.

During the current season, the 19-year-old was named on Palace’s first-team bench for the Carabao Cup match at Plymouth Argyle and subsequently signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League club.

Grehan has contributed to the U21 side with 17 appearances and two goals this term, alongside achieving his first cap for the Republic of Ireland's U21 team.
