Tottenham Hotspur has announced the signing of Australian international Charlotte Grant following the end of her contract with Vittsjö GIK.

The 22-year-old defender has agreed to terms that will keep her with the team until 2026, pending work permit and international clearance.

Grant, an Adelaide native, began her professional career with Adelaide United in October 2018, making 34 league appearances.

She moved to Sweden in April 2021 to play for Rosengård and then on loan to Vittsjö GIK, eventually making the move permanent in January 2023.

The Australian full-back, who has scored her first international goal in a match against England and was part of the Matildas' FIFA World Cup semi-final squad in 2023, has earned 21 caps for her country.

Describing her transfer to SPURSPLAY, Charlotte expressed her excitement: "It feels very surreal. It’s definitely a dream come true and I’m excited to get started. What we are building here at the club is very special and something I wanted to be a part of."

She also spoke highly of Robert Vilahamn, now her coach at Tottenham, who previously coached against her in Sweden.

"Robert definitely got me over the line, he gave me a good gut feeling and coached against me in Sweden and his team were always very competitive and the style of play is something I want to be a part of, so I’m really grateful to be here."

Grant praised the high-pressing, technical style of Vilahamn’s teams and is looking forward to playing under him rather than facing his teams.

Reflecting on her national team experience and style of play, Grant said, "It was an incredible moment to score my first goal. Every time you put on your national team jersey, it’s a huge honour..."

"I'm a hard-working, attacking player, I love to get up and down as a full-back and that was something that helped me come over here because Robert loves that in a full-back, so I’m really looking forward to showing that on the pitch."

Grant has already met her new Tottenham teammates and is excited about the future.

"I have had a lot of fun meeting all my new teammates, they have been very welcoming and it feels like I have been part of the team for a long time but only been one day, so I’m looking forward to what the future holds," she said.
