Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of Icelandic international Arnor Sigurdsson on a permanent contract, keeping him at Ewood Park until June 2025.

The 24-year-old forward, who has earned 30 caps for Iceland, initially joined Rovers on a 12-month deal from CSKA Moscow and has made a significant impact in his early career with the club.

Sigurdsson's tenure with Rovers began impressively, scoring in his debut during the 4-3 defeat against Ipswich Town in September, and continued his scoring streak in his first Ewood Park outing in a 5-2 victory over Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.

He has since added to his tally with notable performances, including a brace in the 4-0 win against QPR and a goal in the 2-1 victory over Bristol City.

Before joining Blackburn Rovers, Sigurdsson started his career with IA Akranes in Iceland, then moved to Swedish side IFK Norrkoping.

He made a club record transfer to CSKA Moscow, where he became the youngest Icelandic player to feature in the Champions League.

His standout moment came in December 2018, scoring a goal and assisting another in CSKA Moscow's historic 3-0 victory over reigning champions Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Following his successful tenure at CSKA Moscow, including helping the team to consecutive fourth-place finishes in Russia's top flight, Sigurdsson had loan spells with Venezia in Italy and a return stint with IFK Norrkoping in Sweden before making his move to Ewood Park.

Gregg Broughton, Rovers’ Director of Football, expressed his satisfaction with the signing.

“We are really happy to make Arnor Sigurdsson a permanent signing at Blackburn Rovers and to have the next 18 months working with him. Arnor has displayed the technical quality that is central to his performance and he is now a vital part of our squad.”

Sigurdsson's signing marks the fourth Rovers player to commit to the club over the past month, following Sammie Szmodics, Harry Pickering, and Adam Wharton.
