Nottingham Forest has officially announced the appointment of Nuno Espírito Santo as their new first team head coach.

The experienced manager, who has overseen more than 460 games in a career spanning multiple top leagues, has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

Nuno, 49, will make his managerial debut for Forest in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Bournemouth at The City Ground this Saturday.

His managerial journey began at Rio Ave in Portugal, where he led the team to two cup finals and their first-ever Europa League qualification.

He then moved to Spain to manage Valencia in 2014, achieving a fourth-place finish in La Liga and securing Champions League football for the team in the 2014/15 season.

After a successful year with Porto, where he won 27 of 49 games, Nuno ventured into English football.

In 2017, he took the reins at Wolverhampton Wanderers. During his tenure at Molineux, he not only guided Wolves to Premier League promotion by winning the Sky Bet Championship title but also secured back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Premier League.

He further led the team to the Europa League quarter-finals in the 2019/20 season, marking an end to an impressive period in the West Midlands.

Following his departure from Wolves in 2021, Nuno briefly managed Tottenham Hotspur in the 2021/22 season.

Before joining Nottingham Forest, he was at the helm of Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, where he achieved league and domestic cup success last season.

Santo will make his Forest managerial debut on Saturday when The Reds host Bournemouth.
