COBH RAMBLERS

Shane Keegan’s Cobh Ramblers have their eyes on the play-offs against Wexford next weekend as they get set to host Kerry at St Colman’s Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Rams drew 3-3 against the Slaneysiders last weekend to ensure a third placed finish – but they have bigger fish to fry now.

And tonight’s game against the Kingdom will be about avoiding injuries ahead of their first-leg showdown against James Keddy’s men at Ferrycarrig Park on Tuesday night.

“It’s been an incredibly enjoyable season,” boss Keegan said. “As players and staff we’ve loved absolutely every minute of it.

“Our home record has been really good and I hope that has given the fans a huge amount of enjoyment.

“We’ve been good far more often than we have been bad.

“And on every occasion you could see a team that was busting its gut to give everything to the club.”

KERRY

Billy Dennehy will be hoping that his Kingdom outfit can claim just their second win of the season when they visit Munster rivals Cobh in East Cork.

Kerry have impressed at times during their debut League of Ireland campaign but they have only one victory to show for it.

That victory came away to Athlone Town earlier this season.

Although they have one more chance to grab a second just days after picking up a point at home to Waterford.

“Cobh have had a fantastic season this season and they have invested significantly which has allowed them to be up there,” Dennehy said this week.

“It will be a tough game but it will be one against a team in the play-offs.

“The points difference between us and them is massive but the performances in the games between us haven’t.

“We’ll be hoping to go there to put in as best a performance as we can to get a point or points.”
