Bohemians midfielder James Clarke is hoping that he can use his scintillating form to help maintain the Gypsies’ European push this year.

Clarke has caught the eye in Dublin 7 under Declan Devine in the middle of the park.

“It’s definitely a positive,” Clarke said about his form when speaking to extratime.com at the EA SPORTS FC 24 SSE Airtricity League Cover Launch.

“If you're feeling good about yourself when you're on the pitch and you're doing well, it’s a good feeling. Hopefully I can keep it up for the rest of the year.

“I just feel confident when I'm on the pitch. I just try and play my own game and try to get on the ball and make things happen.

“I don't know if I put it down to anything. I'm just trying to keep doing what I always do.”

But perhaps it is no surprise to see the impact that Clarke has had at Bohemians given his prior success with Drogheda United under Tim Clancy and Kevin Doherty.

“Declan Devine and Gary Cronin have been really good,” Clarke added. “They’ve brought a great energy into training.

“There’s a great team spirit among the lads so they’ve really done well blending us together and hopefully it can continue.

“I've loved my time at Bohs and I love playing there. I love playing at Dalymount Park and I think the fans are brilliant. We bring a great crowd to every game.”

These are exciting times for Bohemians with an FAI Cup semi-final against Galway United looming on the horizon.

But they must deal with Sligo Rovers on Friday night first before they can think about their trip to the West.

“It’s a massive game against Sligo on Friday and then a massive game against Galway the week after,” Clarke added. But Sligo comes first and we’ll have to be ready for that.”
