League Preview: Treaty United -v- Wexford

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United boss Tommy Barrett believes that his side must defeat Wexford if they are to keep their hopes of reaching a First Division play-off spot alive.

The Shannonsiders welcome Wexford to the Market’s Field on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

But Treaty are five points behind Wexford with just seven games left to play.

And their boss Barrett knows what his side need to do on Friday.

“You would probably need more than a result if you have any hope of getting into the play-off spots,” he told his club’s media team last week.

“We’ll be going into the game looking to win the game as we always do but it will be difficult to do.

“They are hard to break down and have tightened up at the back by keeping a lot of clean sheets.

“We’ll try our best to win it and we are performing well so if we can keep the performance levels we will be in with a shout.”

WEXFORD

James Keddy’s side may have been held to a draw against Finn Harps last weekend, but they are still in a healthy position in the play-off places.

The Slaneysiders looked on course to all but end Harps’ slim hopes of a top-five finish when Darragh Levingston put them 1-0 up at Ferrycarrig Park.

But an injury time leveller from Jamie Watson for ten-man Harps rescued a point for Dave Rogers’ men.

Following Longford Town’s subsequent win at home to Galway United, it now means they are just two points ahead of the chasing pack in the play-off hunt.

But Wexford have been boosted with the impending return of Aaron Robinson from a long-term knee injury.

The midfielder recently played for Wexford’s under-19s alongside Karl Chambers.

However, they will be without loan duo Luke Browne and Eoin Kenny due to their international commitments with the Ireland under-19 squad.
