Shamrock Rovers underage Ireland international Ike Orazi has made the move to France to sign for Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.

The 16-year-old left sided player was part of the Republic of Ireland under-17 team who progressed out of their group in the under-17 European Championship in Hungary – losing to Spain at the quarter-final stage.

Last season, the player won the National League and Cup double at under-15 level with the Hoops.

He was one of three players to be nominated by the FAI for their u17 international player of the year award, only to lose out to his Rovers teammate Naj Razi (who has debuted for the Hoops first team this season).

Orazi came to Rovers from the club’s link up with Corduff FC where he played his football from the age of five.

In a statement on Sunday, Shamrock Rovers wished him well “on the next chapter of his journey and everybody will be watching his progress with pride.”

The club noted that he is “another player who has benefitted from our Ashfield educational programme; in the past year, he has been in full-time training on our Transition Year programme with our full-time coaches.”
