The Premier League kicked off its second matchday with a flurry of goals and drama. After the opening night’s fixture that saw Manchester City defeat Burnley 3-0, the focus moved to six more games across Saturday. Here's a look at the highlights:

Newcastle's Statement Victory Over Aston Villa

St James' Park resonated with delight as Newcastle United overwhelmed Aston Villa with a commanding 5-1 victory.

Sandro Tonali and Moussa Diaby, both debutants, made history by scoring the earliest goals by newcomers in the same Premier League match.

Alexander Isak's brace demonstrated his class, while Callum Wilson continued his streak of scoring on opening weekends. Harvey Barnes, another debutant, also got onto the scoresheet, crowning Newcastle's memorable start to the season.

Brighton Showcases Depth in Win Against Luton

Brighton had a mixture of old and new heroes against Premier League newbies Luton Town.

Solly March continued his rich vein of form, and debutant Joao Pedro made his mark with a spot-kick.

Luton's Carlton Morris briefly sparked hope for the Hatters, but it was snuffed out by Simon Adingra's debut goal and a late finish from Evan Ferguson.

Toffees Trip at First Hurdle

Despite their home advantage, Everton couldn’t capitalize on numerous chances against Fulham.

The visitors secured a precious victory thanks to Bobby De Cordova-Reid's sharp finish in the latter half.

The Toffees, under Sean Dyche, would rue the missed opportunities, including a disallowed goal, as they search for form in the upcoming matches.

Eagles Soar Under Hodgson’s Guidance

Crystal Palace’s consistent performance, anchored by Roy Hodgson, was on display against Sheffield United.

The team's dominance was evident in their possession and numerous attempts on goal.

Odsonne Edouard's lone strike was enough to seal the deal and continue Palace's impressive run.

Bournemouth’s Spirited Comeback

Bournemouth’s fight was evident as they clawed back against West Ham to secure a 1-1 draw.

While West Ham took the lead with a superb Jarrod Bowen goal, it was Dominic Solanke who ensured Bournemouth got a point, demonstrating resilience under their new manager, Andoni Iraola.

Arsenal’s Nail-biting Finish

The Gunners showcased their might with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. Eddie Nketiah's brilliance was complemented by Bukayo Saka's stunner, setting the Emirates alight.

Nottingham Forest, however, didn't bow down easily, with Taiwo Awoniyi's late strike ensuring a tense finish.

Arsenal, in the end, held their nerve, marking a winning start.
