Faroe Island side Klaksvik have eliminated Swedish champions Hacken on penalties in the Champions League second qualifying round.

The champions of the Faroe Islands, who dumped Ferencvaros out of the Champions League qualifiers in the last round, backed that result up by knocking out the side who sit second in the Swedish league.

The first leg was a scoreless draw, with the second leg in Sweden finishing 3-3 after extra-time.

Going second in the shoot-out, Klaksvik won 4-3 to set up a Champions League third qualifying round game against Molde (who played against Shamrock Rovers in last year’s Europa Conference League group stages).

It means that Klaksvik will play UEFA group stage football this season.

Should they lose to Molde in the next round of the Champions League, they will drop into the Europa League play-off knowing that should they lose that play-off, they will play in the Europa Conference League group stages.
