Barnsley have announced the signing of Corey O’Keeffe from Forest Green Rovers.

The 25-year-old right wing-back, who can also perform in a midfield role, is joining the squad on a contract until 2027.

O'Keeffe, a Republic of Ireland youth international, began his career at Birmingham City and has made over 170 appearances in English football.

His move to Oakwell marks the sixth signing for Barnsley during the current summer transfer window.

Barnsley FC CEO, Khaled El-Ahmad, expressed his satisfaction with the new acquisition.

"We are pleased to be able to welcome Corey to Oakwell," he said.

"He will add further quality to our squad ahead of the start of the 23/24 campaign and we look forward to seeing him begin work with Neill and the coaching staff."

Speaking about his move, O’Keeffe conveyed his enthusiasm.

"I am delighted to be here, and I’m ready to help the team go one step further this season and get promotion," he stated.

O'Keeffe brings international experience from his youth career with the Republic of Ireland.

He represented his country in the 2015 UEFA Under-17 Championship and in the UEFA Under-19 qualifying rounds in 2017.

He also played in several U18 friendlies, once even captaining his team against Austria's U19 squad.
