In their preparations for the forthcoming Premier League campaign, Wolves have announced a pre-season fixture against Scottish Premiership champions Celtic at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.

Initially set to take place in South Korea, the match had to be relocated due to both clubs' withdrawal from their summer tours of the country. The match is now slated for 2pm kick-off on Saturday, 29th July.

This pre-season game will be the first for Wolves under manager Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui, who joined the club in late 2022, guided Wolves to a 13th place finish in the Premier League.

“We are really excited to be heading back to Ireland for the first time in almost 10 years for this match against Celtic," said Russell Jones, Wolves’ general manager for marketing and commercial growth.

He added that both clubs were disappointed about the cancellation of their South Korea tours, but were pleased to rearrange this pre-season fixture in Dublin.

This game will be Celtic's first in Dublin since 2018. The Scottish champions, who secured a eighth Treble last season, have a significant fanbase in Ireland.

The upcoming match will also mark one of the first for Celtic's manager Brendan Rodgers following his return to the club during the offseason.

The Aviva Stadium is also set to host another pre-season game between Manchester United and Athletic Club Bilbao a week later.
