The build up to the kick off to Ireland’s participation in the Women’s World Cup will include RTÉ showing a documentary on the Girls in Green created by award-winning filmmaker Ross Whitaker.

The doc will debut on RTÉ TV on the eve of the FIFA Women's World Cup and it charts the team's journey through qualifying for their first ever major tournament - from the massive home and away wins over Georgia, the 1-1 draw in Gothenburg and the dramatic play-off victory in Hampden Park.

It will feature interviews with Ireland manager Vera Pauw, skipper Katie McCabe and several members of the squad.

The film also details the rise of the Womens’ National Team and how they have grown stronger by overcoming many obstacles. Ultimately, though, it is about the road to the World Cup and the impact of an incredible team.
