Coventry City have announced the signing of Japanese international Tatsuhiro Sakamoto.

The midfielder joins the Sky Blues on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee from Belgian side KV Oostende.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Tatsuhiro to Coventry City,” manager Mark Robins said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Having impressed in his native country, he continued to do so in Belgium and we look forward to welcoming him to English football.

“He is a versatile and creative attacking midfielder, with good technical ability and pace, and we look forward to working with him.”

Sakamoto began his career with Montedio Yamagata before securing a move to Cerezo Osaka in the J1 League.

He moved to Oostende on loan in 2022 with the move becoming permanent thereafter.

The midfielder made his Japan debut in 2021 and has two caps for his country.
