Shamrock Rovers have added highly rated 17-year-old Joy Ralph to their Women’s League of Ireland squad.

The forward joins the Hoops from DLR Waves where she has come through the ranks to the senior team from the club’s WU17 squad.

“I am delighted Joy has signed for us,” said Hoops Head Coach Collie O’Neill on shamrockrovers.ie. “She is one of the best young players in the country and I am looking forward to working with her over the next few months.”

As a 16-year-old she scored twice on debut last season – becoming the youngest player to score for the club – and she was used exclusively off the bench making ten league appearances in the last campaign.

The Ireland under-17 international has played seven times this season in DLR Waves’ 13 league games and scored in the 3-0 home win against Cork City back in March.

Head of Women’s Football at Rovers Jason Carey said: “Joy is one of the best young strikers in the country, she is a player of tremendous quality, we have been monitoring her progress for quite a while.”

Having been eliminated from the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup last weekend, Rovers are continuing to train over the next week before they take a full fortnight’s break. Their next game is an FAI Cup clash at the end of August against Killester Donnycarney.
