Steven Gerrard has been unveiled as the manager of Saudi Professional League side Al-Ettifaq.

The announcement marks the former Liverpool player’s return to the dugout since his sacking by Aston Villa last season.

The former Glasgow Rangers boss joins the Saudi side on a contract until 2025 with the side having finished in seventh place in the Pro League last season.

“Without a doubt, Gerrard’s presence will be an addition and  a quantum leap to our league , as he is the first English coach to work  in the Roshen League (Saudi Pro League), and God willing, there will be subsequent technical  additions to support the team so that Fares Al-Dahna will appear strongly during the new season’s competitions,” President of the club, Khaled Al-Dabel said, speaking to the club’s website.
