Stephen Meaney has confirmed he has left First Division Longford Town after a short spell at Bishopsgate.

Meaney, 25, joined the Red and Black at the start of the season following previous stints in the League of Ireland with Drogheda United and Athlone Town.

But after making just eight appearances for De Town, he has parted ways with Stephen Henderson’s side.

During that time, the Dubliner scored just once – in a 3-2 win away to Kerry – and also made four starts for the club.

He leaves the Midlanders alongside Aodh Dervin who has returned to parent club Shelbourne.

“After a lot of consideration I have decided to leave Longford Town,” Meaney wrote on social media earlier this week.

“Thanks to the club, my teammates and the fans for the support during my time here.

“I wish the team all the best for the rest of the season.”
