Shamrock Rovers go into Monday’s match with Derry City in Tallaght with a number of players missing due to injury – including Trevor Clarke who is set for a length spell on the sidelines.

Clarke is due to fly to London this week for an operation with Hoops Head Coach Stephen Bradley confirming through shamrockrovers.ie that Clarke will be “out for a couple of months at least, which is disappointing but hopefully his recovery and rehab is not too bad.”

He has played 14 times for the Hoops this season, scoring four goals but injury has meant he hasn’t played since mid-May.

The 24-year-old player signed on loan with the Hoops till the end of November from Bristol Rovers having played over 100 times in his first spell at the club which ended with his transfer to Rotherham United in July 2019.

Gary O’Neill, who missed Friday’s 2-2 Dublin Derby draw in Dalymount Park, will continue to be absent on Monday, as will Ronan Finn who came off with a knock in the first half against Bohs.

Alan Mannus and Aaron Greene are back training but Mannus remains unavailable for selection.

“There's one or two other knocks that we'll need to have a look at as well today (Sunday) in training, but that's the way it goes. You get injuries at different points of the season for different players, and you just have to get on with it and deal with it.”
