Former Shamrock Rovers player Dean Ebbe has signed for Gibraltarian side Manchester 1962 FC on a two-year deal after leaving Crusaders at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Last season, the Dubliner struggled in front of goal for The Crues scoring only four goals and registering one assist in 30 appearances but was a part of the 2023 Irish Cup winners’ squad before departing the club.

The 28-year-old has been somewhat of a journeyman during his career having spells in Scotland, Wales and a stint in the non-league back home playing for Leinster Senior League sides Collinstown and Bluebell United.

His most prolific period was during his time in Wales with The New Saints (TNS) and Bala Town over a four-year period where he scored 52 and assisted 13 for both clubs.

While at TNS, Ebbe lifted the Cymry Premier twice, the Welsh Cup and Welsh League Cup once, winning the latter on his club debut. He also boasted an impressive goalscoring record in Europe, netting four times in the Europa League qualifying, scoring the winner in a tie against Gibraltar side Lincoln Red Imps back in 2018.

The Irish forward, links up again with former TNS head coach Anthony Limbrick having worked with the Australian from 2021 until 2022. Manchester 62 is a seven-time winner of the Gibraltar Premier Division but have not captured the ultimate prize in Gibraltarian football since 1999 when Ebbe was five.

Ebbe tweeted after the move was announced, “Absolutely delighted to get this deal done & looking forward to hitting the ground running at Manchester 62 and pushing the club as far as possible.”

The Gibraltar Premier Division is set to kick back off in Autumn 2023.
