Northern Irish top-flight outfit Glentoran have confirmed the signing of Daire O’Connor.

O’Connor, 26, was most recently on the books of Scottish Championship side Ayr United.

And after missing out on promotion to the Scottish top-flight in the play-offs last season, he returns to the Irish League to join the Glens.

The winger previously played for Cliftonville before making the move to Scotland and Ayr United.

But before that, the player played for UCD and Cork City in the League of Ireland.

He began his career in the League of Ireland with the Students and helped them to a First Division title win in 2018.

And in 2019 he then joined Cork City, where he spent two seasons with the Leesiders before departing just before the end of the 2020 campaign.

“It's great to get this sorted and I'm delighted to get it done,” O’Connor said after joining Glentoran.

“I've been in talks with (Director of Football) Paul (Millar) and Warren since Warren (Feeney) was appointed (as manager).

“I've been very impressed with what they told me about how they plan to play and the part I can play in that.

“Also they were so keen to sign me that it was an easy decision for me. It's very exciting and I can't wait to get training for Europe and the start of the new season.”
