Former loanee Luke Thomas has secured a permanent move to Bristol Rovers on a three-year contract, after leaving Barnsley.

The 24-year-old winger, who had an stint with Rovers during the 2021/22 season, was a part of the squad that won promotion.

Thomas made a total of 71 appearances for Barnsley before his contract concluded. He also had a successful loan spell at Bristol Rovers, where he participated in 28 games.

Thomas, a native of Soudley in the Forest of Dean, shared his enthusiasm about the move, saying, "It's great to be back at Rovers. I'm here for three years and it's time to push on and enjoy more success here."

Joey Barton, Rovers' manager, also expressed his contentment with the deal.

"We are happy to be reunited with Luke. He tasted promotion with us two seasons ago and we tried to get him back in for last season. As it turned out, he had a trip to Wembley and almost got Barnsley up.

"However, he's back at Rovers now and will be a key part of our dressing room. The three-year deal reflects how highly we rate his potential and what he could bring to the team."
